Treat Your Asthma Naturally and Quickly

May 31st, 2009 by admin

Many individuals dealing with asthma try to use natural asthma remedies instead of loading up their bodies with chemicals. Keep in mind, though, that asthma treatment using natural remedies hinges on the specific trigger at the root of the attack.

There are a variety of triggers and processes that can lead to an asthma attack. Among the many triggers are mold, perfume, food allergies, and cold temperatures.

The range of asthma treatments encompasses steroids, drugs and ongoing medical intervention. An immediate way to naturally treat your asthma is to avoid common triggers. Nevertheless, there are many causes of an asthma attack that are unavoidable.

Triggers such as emotional stressors can be treated with natural remedies such as stress reduction techniques. Other people turn to herbs and organic foods that have potential positive effects on the prevention of an attack.

Another way of obtaining natural relief from asthma symptoms is to build up your immune system and reduce the constrictions of the air sacs found in the lungs. Aerosolized hydrogen peroxide used in a humidifier improves the availability of oxygen that can be metabolized by the asthma patient.

Adding hydrogen peroxide to the humidifier has been shown to have a positive effect on increasing the amount of oxygen that is able to be used. Hydrogen peroxide will help the vaporization process, but can unfortunately bleach the walls and curtains around the vaporizer. With the consent of your doctor and appropriate methodology the hydrogen peroxide can be added to the machines that deliver your bronchodilator.

This method works to eliminate attacks and helps to enhance your immune system, but it doesn’t get to the root causes of the disease. There are many other ways to manage emotional stress to provide quick natural relief of a stress related attack. One way is to practice Reiki, a Japanese technique that helps to reduce stress levels and encourages relaxation and healing.

Reiki is based on the idea of an unseen life force of energy that supposedly flows through us and what causes life. If your life flow is lowered, you are more susceptible to illness and stress problems. If the Reiki is high we are more capable, happy and healthy. Reiki can provide immediate natural relief for asthma that treats the whole person – body, emotions, mind and spirit.

By paying attention to preventative measures and reducing stress levels, you can decrease the use of meds and enjoy natural relief for asthma symptoms.

Asthma Treatment: Knowledge Is 50% Of Success

May 30th, 2009 by admin

It is common to wonder about asthma treatment. Many people are concerned as to what treatment entails and if a cure for asthma symptoms is available. Asthma treatment, however, primarily involves avoiding triggers and taking inhaled steroids and/or other medications to prevent blockage of the respiratory system. Many people want to know if there are alternatives to this basic medical treatment.

It is important to monitor the causes of asthma much like people monitor their cholesterol levels.  Asthmatics document what types of things appear to be causing their symptoms and then provide that documentation to their doctors.

Asthma treatment is determined by what causes the asthma in the first place. This is the case because each individual case of asthma is different in some way. The symptoms for asthma are often similar, but the treatments are rarely the same because of the complexities of the human body. For this reason, never utilize the “I’ll have what she’s having” approach to asthma treatments.

Those with severe asthma will need more radical treatment and stronger steroids in their inhaler, whereas those with a milder case may only need oral medication that is not a steroid. Severe asthma can cause complex problems in patients that aren’t always immediately treatable. For this reason alone, make sure that the physician is treating the specifics of the case of asthma and not a general case.

The best way to learn more about asthma treatment is to check out various websites or books. Getting quality information on asthma is related to getting quality treatment because the information needs to be specific to each case. There is a ton of information you can get on asthma, so the challenge is gleaning the information down to what is relevant.

Getting quality asthma treatment begins with knowledge. Without the foundation of good information, much of the awareness of the symptoms and causes is left to chance. With this in mind, approach a medical professional with the findings about specific causes and ask advice on the best treatments possible.

A Viable New Snoring Cure: The Adkins Snoring Aid

The Adkins Snoring Aid is a British invention which reduces the amount of airflow to the snorer and aids in the minimization of snoring. Basically, The Adkins Snoring Aid employs two very small balls made of plastic, connected with a small clip in order to plug the nostrils. The person is then made to breathe through his or her mouth rather than their nose. Often, breathing through the mouth may be a bit misleading as this in itself can cause snoring. However, it is sometimes the case that snoring is caused by vibrations in the back of the nose. There actually is a rather easy test to see whether or not this product is an ideal cure for snoring. Usually, these types of pillows are hypoallergenic meaning they discourage the growth of mildew, allergens and other molds that can cause respiratory infections. An anti-snoring pillow helps the user to position his or her head in a way that prevents the airways from becoming blocked or obstructed. Essentially, this means your jaw is kept from slackening and your chin is kept away from your chest. The neck is held in such a postition that the jaw is kept forward – a great position to stop the snoring. No matter what position you sleep in, on your side, on your back or on your front. This pillow is a useful snoring cure if you consider that most people change position some 50 times throughout the night.

Choosing Appropriate Herbs For Your Indoor Herb Garden

May 25th, 2009 by admin

If you have cultivated an herb garden outside all summer and into the fall, you are probably disappointed that winter is so quickly approaching. You know the nutritional and health benefits to eating natural and fresh foods, and you do not want to have to stop gardening your own herbs. Do not dismay! You can easily bring your herb garden inside of your home for the winter. You can plant a windowsill garden right in your kitchen! By doing this, you can have fresh herbs all winter long.

Herbs Preparation

In order to successfully move your herbs into your home, you will have to have a windowsill that is in a sunny area. The best place to put your windowsill herb garden is a windowsill that gets at least five hours of sunlight per day and has minimal drafts. Often times a south or southeast facing window is perfect. Next, purchase your favorite herb plants. Make sure that these are smaller plants as the area you will be planting them in is probably not as big as your outdoor space. Then, get a container that is half a foot to a foot deep. If you are planting multiple herbs, get a long container. For individual plants, you will need the pot to be at least six inches deep. Plant your herbs in the pots just as you would plant them outside (many gardeners have very specific ways that they plant their gardens, from different top soils to various potting mixes!).

Caring For Your Herbs

Once you have your herbs planted and set in the windowsill, make sure that you remember to care for them. However, do not over do it. While they were outside you probably did not have to worry about watering them, but make sure that you water them on occasion when they are in your windowsill garden. But remember, herbs do not flourish in wet soil. In addition, you can feed your herbs once a month with a specific fertilizer that says it is safe for use on edibles. Remember, you have to allow your plants some time to get used to their new setting. Do not cut them until you find any new growth. Otherwise your plants will not flourish.

Tips For Your Indoor Herb Garden

First, make sure that you are choosing appropriate herbs for your indoor herb garden. You do not want herbs that grow very wide or very tall. Second, if you do not have any sunny windows, use a fluorescent light and keep it on for about ten hours a day. It also should be nearer to the plant about eighteen inches away. Third, you should make sure that you do not trim any more than a third of your plant’s foliage. In addition, trimming them often will encourage them to grow more, but make sure that there is new growth before you clip away!

The Process Of Manufacturing Wine

May 25th, 2009 by admin

Wine, which is a drink we all know and love, is produced from fruits such as grapes and berries by drying and then fermenting them.  Once the fruits ferment, the sugar within the fruit will turn into alcohol. The wine will display in a different taste, color and aroma, as it depends on the type of fruit that it was made from.

Wine is divided into three main categories – fortified, sparkling, and table.  Wine is known as fortified when a bit of brandy is added into it to enrich the alcohol.  Wine is deemed as sparkling when it has the right level of C02.Table wine, the third category, is wine in it’s natural form – which is different from any other type of wine.

Normally, grapes are the preferred ingredients for making wine.  They contain an equal amount of acid and sugar, which can’t be found in any other type of fruit.  When drying the grapes, a high amount of heat is needed.  To use grapes with wine though, you need to know the exact harvest season.  If you don’t pick the grapes during the right time, your wine will suffer due to the level of increases in sugar and a lack of acidic extent.

During the beginning stages of wine making, the grapes or other fruit is crushed by a large cylindrical container that will deflate the juicy parts of the fruit into large bags that are attached to the machine.  Next, the juicy part of the fruit is fermented through the use of heat.  During this part of the process, present yeast will help to convert the sugar into alcohol.  Once the sugars start to break down into alcohol, the wine will get a buttery flavor.

Next, is the settling.  Settling involves the yeast cells or any other type of material flowing near the top of the wine.  Once it is at the top, it is then filtered with all sediments being gathered on the filter.  Aging is next, which is where the wine is tightly packed away in special contains that won’t allow any contact with air for months – sometimes even years.  Once the wine has been aged, it is transferred into smaller bottlers then shipped out and sold.

When the wine is filled in the bottle, it is done in a such a way so that it makes to differ the various types of wine.  Colored bottles are preferred, as they will greatly reduce the risk of oxidation, damage, and several other possible risks.  The bottles are also labeled according to their manufacturer and brand as well, which makes it easy for you to select the wine you are interested in.

Once you bought a bottle of wine, you should be make sure in order to store it in the correct place.  The most appropriate places to store wine is the basement, underground cellars, or anywhere else that is damp and cool.  No matter where you store your wine at, you should always make sure that temperature stays around 55 degrees F.

Never store the wine in an area where the temperature fluctuates, as it can harm the wine.  A humidity level of around 60% is also important, in order to keep the cork moist.  If the temperature is too low, it can also harm the wine.  When you buy your wine, you should always make sure that you store it in the right location.  Wine that is properly stored and taken care of can be truly amazing once you drink it – making it more than worth the time and effort.

Top 5 Ways to Prevent a Cold

May 24th, 2009 by admin

The common cold is one of the most annoying sickness as there are currently no actual cures to fight the cold virus! The only thing you can really do is take some over the counter medicines to combat your symptoms and allow your body time to heal. Instead of agonizing over what the best cold treatments are, I’ve found that the best thing to do is focus on cold prevention! Here are some of the best methods I’ve found for preventing colds:

  • Limit contact with people who are infected with the cold virus (especially during the first three days of their sickness)
  • Avoid touching your eyes and nose (the cold virus is easily passed when an infected hand touches these body parts)
  • Wash your hands frequently (this is most important after you have had contact with people or items that might be contaminated)
  • Use a hand sanitizer often (especially if you are unable to wash your hands immediately after potential contamination)
  • Keep your body functioning at it’s highest capacity by:
  • Taking a multi-vitamin daily
  • Taking immune booster products
  • Getting lots of rest
  • Avoiding stressful situations

Cold viruses are often prevalent in places where a lot of young children gather (schools, daycares, etc.) and where many people share the use of appliances, tools, etc. (workspaces). It is especially important to take these cold prevention measures in those type of environments.

If your cold prevention techniques didn’t work and you still catch a nasty cold, here are a few natural cold remedies you can try out:

  • Get lots of sleep
  • Allow your body to rest (no strenuous activities)
  • Hydrate yourself by drinking fluids constantly throughout the day
  • Use a humidifier to act as a decongestant

If these remedies still leave you miserable with cold symptoms, make sure to treat the cold early and often with Decongestants, Cough Suppressants, and Antihistamines.
