How much schooling is there after medical school for a plastic surgeon?

January 12th, 2009 by admin

I live in Beverly Hills CA, and about to go through Medical school. After medical school, how long is residency, fellowship, internship and etc.?

The sad part about plastic surgery is that there is no extra training required. Any quack who's got an M.D. can perform plastic surgery (which is why you hear those horror stories about plastic surgery nightmares). Your residency/fellowship/internship all depend on what hospital/clinic you do them at, but it will be at least a couple more years.

How long does it take for a medical school to accept you after an interview?

January 10th, 2009 by admin

It depends on when you were interviewed. Most schools will interview approximately 500 candidates, which will take a couple of weeks. If you were one of the first, you’re going to have to wait a few weeks. If you were one of the last, the wait might only be a couple of weeks. But, on average, you should hear within a month.

Good luck!

How long for Medical School?

January 4th, 2009 by admin

I keep getting conflicting answers on how long it would take to get me through school. I plan on getting my bachelors degrees in anthropology and biology with an associates degree in paramedicine. I've already talked to counselors and they said given the nature of my programs I could accomplish it in 4 years of undergraduate study. I then want to go to medical school but I also want to do a joint M.D. degree with a Ph.D. in medical anthropology. I've been told it can be done in 6 years of post graduate study (4 years medical school and two years for the Ph.D.). Some people have said it will take longer, others said it would take less time. Does anyone know for sure?

I would expect college will take longer. Double majors usually take longer, unless you have credit from APs, earlier college classes taken in college, etc. And that associates degree in paramedicine will take time and more classes too.

The more common PhD and MD combined programs are usually 8 years. They'll do 2 years of med school, 4 years of grad school, and finally the last 2 years of med school. Grad school, while can be done in 2, usually takes much longer for things dealing in science. That is mostly because you'll probably have to do actual lab research, and not just from printed stuff.

Then, there's residency. Another 4-5 years.

At the very least, it will be at least 14 years. Hope you're really sure about all of this. That, and like to study a lot.

How long does it take to study at Medical School?

December 29th, 2008 by admin

Also, what are the main differences among University, State College/University and Community College??

Thanks a lot!!.

A university i think you mean private university. It is owned by a private individual and usually costs alot. A state university is a university that is associated with the state and usually costs a lot cheaper than a private university. A community college is a college which pretty much everyone can get in as long as they have a GED or a high school diploma. Students usually go to community college to save up on college tuition and then transfer to a university after 2 years. In order to get into medical school, you must complete the pre-requisites for it, take the PCAT, get a bachelor's degree and then apply to medical school. Remember to keep your grades high during college since the average of students' GPA who apply to medical school are 3.5 and above.

good luck

How long does it take to complete Medical School?

December 27th, 2008 by admin

I am 16 years old, and am interested in becoming a Doctor. But i was looking online, and someone said it takes you 10 years before you are ready to actually practice medicine. Is that right?!

4 years for medical school and after that you do 3-4 years of residency where you learn from other doctors in a real hospital. after that you get to practice medicine without the supervision of another doctor

im going to job corp then medical school how long will it take me to be a doctor?

December 25th, 2008 by admin

i have one year of college done already.

You'll need a college degree and a high GPA; complete the MCAT, and then there are 4 years of medical school. A residency lasts about 4 years for many specialties, and then there can be additional training ("fellowship") to become a subspecialist such as a cardiologist, pulmonologist, neurosurgery. The fellowship can last another 2-4 years.
