If I was a star medical school student and a 4.0 GPA student out of a university, would it be possible for me to start out with a higher rank than average recruits for military medicine?
No, you would start out as a Lt. with a degree regardless of GPA

What do you think is better? USF (university of south florida) has a 7 year medical program… I was accepted. Do you think it is better to go there since you are guaranteed admission into medical school or should I go to a more prestigious school such as UF or U of Miami and try to get into a better medical school.
Does medical school rankings really matter? USF is ranked at 74 while U of Miami and UF have medical schools ranked in the 40's (depends on which site you check)….
Thanks! Also, does it help to go to a good medical school if you want to get into a touch residency…? I want to become a dermatologist.
You still need to maintain a certain GPA to be accepted into the medical school, but definitely go there, if a doctor is what you want to do. If a doctor is what you truly want to be, there is no easier path and nothing closer to a guarantee than a 7 year program like that. Going to University of Miami and UF will not help you get into medical school. They are mediocre schools as far as medical schools are concerned.
As far as being a dermatologist, don't worry about that right now. People change their field while in medical school often, let alone being still in high school.

The UW med school is really good and ranked number one in primary care.
I want to go there since I live in Washington state near Seattle and want to be a doctor.
But according to some sites, UWSOM has only about 800 students. And it only accepts about 4% of their applicants.
Is this true?
Yes this is true. The UW Medical school is the most prestigious in the country. Only 4% of applicants are accepted, making it one of the toughest to get into as well. But you can still go to the UW for your undergrad premed which would be much easier. The UW as a whole accepts about 65% of applicants, so you should have a good shot to at least get into the University.

I was accepted into the 7 year medical program at USF and was wondering if I should attend there or go to a more prestigious university (UF or U of Miami) or even Bryn mawr, wellesley, smith which are smaller, a lot tougher liberal arts colleges in the east coast in hopes of getting into a better medical school.
What should I do? Is guaranteed admission a lot better since it's less stress?
Intelligence wise, I have all A's, one B in high school and take all my courses at a college through a dual enrollment program. My sat's pretty much suck though: CR 710, Math 660, Writing 680;….so maybe i'm better off at a program which guarantees admission into a mediocre medical school (ranked at 74) ??
trust me.
your SATs DO NOT suck.
trust me.

And where does it stand compared to other medical schools?
It doesn't really stand out among other schools. It doesn't rank high compared to prestigious ones, so I would not say that it is highly ranked.

A little background:
I am a senior at a decent state school (aka ranked in the US News top 50), graduating in the spring. Economics and mathematics double major, former president of a student organization, about 4 semesters of volunteering, worked for 1.5 years in a lab , although I was paid for it. Small bit of health policy research. No shadowing, though, and have not taken the MCAT yet, but I'm going to study nonstop in the spring to do well on it.
My grades:
Bio 1: A
Bio 1 Lab: C+
Bio 2: B+
Bio 2 Lab: B+
Physics 1: A
Physics 1 Lab: A
Physics 2: B
Physics 2 Lab: B+
Gen Chem 1: A
Gen Chem 1 Lab: A
Gen Chem 2: A
Gen Chem 2 Lab: A
Organic 1: C
Organic 2: C
Organic Lab: A
BIochemistry: C
My overall GPA is a 3.51. My econ GPA is a 4.0 (relatively easy major), but math is more like 3.61 (hard major). I will be taking 1 more math class, 1 advanced stats class, and then a bunch of fluff next semester (my last), so that I can lift my GPA and still have time to study for the MCATs. Have not taken Anatomy, Physiology, or other non-required but recommended pre-health courses.
Thanks so much!
Use this, it's very useful.
