What would the bi-conditional statement be?

December 31st, 2008 by admin

The statement is : If you are in a sea of medical schools, then one stands out.

Thanks for your help.

Lmfao.

Do yourself a favor and look at what section Yahoo! suggests your questions go into. There IS a "Browse" button as well as a "Category Searchh" so you can post these things in a more suitable section. =)

Identify the hypothesis in the conditional statement.?

December 29th, 2008 by admin

You must go to medical school.
You must be a doctor.
You want to be a doctor.
Doctors go to medical school.

Doctors go to medical school, because it can be said as : If you want to be a doctor, you go to medical school.

Why Do Filipinos reacted so much to the comment of Teri Hatcher in Desperate Housewives?

December 27th, 2008 by admin

regarding graduates of SOME medical schools in the Philippines?

Im a Filipino and I was not insulted because its really true. Its a sad reality that our government must take a serious look rather than condemning Teri Hatcher. That statement of her should serve as an eye-opener for the government/schools to improve the quality of education in the Philippines. The result of recent medical board exams shows how many aspires to become a doctor but only few are qualified. Can you imagine computer schools like AMA and STI offerring medical courses? Only in the Philippines.

Not only that, isnt it that we Filipinos also make fun of Japanese for being 'Sakang', Africans for being "Unggoy". Indians for being "mabaho" and Chinese for "eating Cat" and "source of piracy in the whole world". We always watch our local comedians maligns these people in out movies and TV shows.
Japs,
you go to Recto and you will have a BS Medicine or BS Political science in less than 30 minutes. Then you're telling me Philippine diploma are not doubtful? Its been there been since the 1970's but the government is not doing anything to close those diploma "factory" along Recto.

I've been in that situation so many times. Foreign companies always doubt/belittle IT/computer graduates from Phils (I'm an IT specialist) because there are so many fly by night computer schools in the Philippines. Operating without license and their graduates doesnt even know whats the difference between Windows XP and MS Word.

The bottomline line is, the government must act on all forms of corruption so that we would improve our educational system and prove to the world that we are not just Filipinos but world-class Filipinos.

i beg to differ though, for the way i see it this is not really an attack on the medical competency of the filipino or their medical schools but rather it is an attack on every filipino working or studying abroad who will provide a philippine diploma because there will always be this doubt that is it dubious.

& if you havent been in that situation yet, then you probably do not know how it would feel. & that is why some "kababayans" (fellow filipinos) living abroad have reacted to it so strongly.

anyway having said all that, if anybody out there got offended by this, there is this petition page you can go to:

http://www.PetitionOnline.com/FilABC/

Additional:
thanks for the info about recto, i know about that & i know that there are people who do patronize their services. but there are people like you, me & millions of other fellow filipinos who have gotten their certificates & diplomas by doing the hard work & a big number of them based abroad. & those are the ones that have this reason to vent out against such a comment that was potentially seen & heard by 120M+ people worldwide on tv & more on the web.

anyway, i know that it was meant to be funny, but being funny over the expense of a race, ethnicity or any protected class is not only uncool but morally wrong & politically incorrect.

& if you'd ask me they shouldnt have done that, imagine if they have mentioned another country other than the philippines, they would probably have a lawsuit going on by now. yes, regardless if it was the truth.

Can someone tell me what they think of my thesis statement? My professor says I must take a stand.?

December 25th, 2008 by admin

Despite chocolate being a food which is high in calories, saturated fat, and sugar, recent studies by Dr. Vlachopoulos at the 1st Cardiology Department, Athens Medical School have found that dark chocolate is a food which promotes cardiovascular health.

Your professor is right.

Are you trying to tell the reader that you support the eating of chocolate because the positive (cardiovascular health) out weights the negative (calories, fat and sugar.)

or are you trying to tell the reader that they should stay away from chocolate because the calories fat and sugar are not worth cardiovascular health?

Try writing

Despite chocolate being a food which is high in calories, saturated fat, and sugar, it can still be a healthy food to consume. Recent studies by Dr. Vlachopoulos at the 1st Cardiology Department, Athens Medical School have found that dark chocolate is a food which promotes cardiovascular health.

It's okay for a thesis to be 2 sent. long.

What kind of thesis statement I can use for Nursing?

December 23rd, 2008 by admin

Nursing assistants give personal care to patients. They perform routine tasks under the supervision of nursing and medical staff.Neither a high school diploma nor previous work experience is necessary for a job as a nurse. They have to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Most work full time.

You basically listed facts about what nurses do, but I'm assuming that's part of the introduction and you'd like to develop a thesis statement after that. If that's the case, you also have to consider if you're writing informatively or persuasively. If you just want to inform the audience, you can say something like "Nurses have many important aspects to their job, the three most important being…." (and then list what you'll discuss). That statement is still somewhat persuasive, but you'll mostly be informing your audience about the topic. If you want to write persuasively, you need to convince your audience to see your viewpoint on some issue related to nursing. An example might include "Nursing can be a very rewarding occupation."

Hope that helps.

Medical School interview help!!!?

December 21st, 2008 by admin

I have an interview at the University of Leicester for medicine in the new year. I'm actually quite surprised to hear from them because I wouldn't say that I have the best grades (AAB). I have work experience and mentioned this in my personal statement; I think that this alongside my written communication skills may have made me eligible for an interview. I seriously need all the help that I can get, especially from medical students past or present. What type of questions should I prepare myself for? Is there anything that I should really focus on e.g any particular topics related to medicine? P.S the interview is meant to be 40minutes long.

I could use all the help I get, I'm quite nervous at the moment!

Thank You beforehand!

I've had 2 medicine interviews so far (though not at leicester) but one of my mates recently had a med interview at leicester. She said that they asked the typical medcine questions such as "why medicine", "why leicester" what have you read to do with medicine in the news lately". Also they asked her about some ethical issues and senarios ( to do with abortion & euthanasia). She said that overall it wasn't too bad and it felt more like a conversation than an interview cuz the interviewers made her feel really comfortable.
