Our mission is to:

* Deliver the finest dental care available today in cosmetic and general dentistry.
* Create a beautiful, healthy smile: cosmetic dentistry, veneers, and tooth whitening
* Strive daily to exceed our patients’ expectations of today’s dentistry
* Offer our patients quality, excellence, and comfort when treating them
* Make the entire dental experience a successful and comfortable one.

Two words describe our approach to your comfort: we listen. Above all else, we want you to always feel in control. We make sure that you are completely numb before we start any work! We ask for your feedback to ensure painfree anesthesia and we listen and make any necessary adjustments.

In our waiting room you will find yourself wondering if you are really visiting your dentist or are still in your living room as you relax in comfortable chairs and watch television on a flat-screen TV.

We also have a refreshment center offering cool or hot beverages and snacks to enjoy before or after your visit. To help you drown out the noise of the dental visit (which is the worst part for some patients), we offer iPods with personalized playlists that you can use to listen to some of your favorite music.

We also offer TV monitors in all treatment rooms, where you can watch TV or one of the many movies or sitcoms in our DVD library. Many of our patients have said that this alone makes the visit fly by! And most of our patients who are parents state that this is the only quiet time they get to sit down and watch something relatively uninterrupted!!)

We also offer massage features in all the treatment chairs, to allow for a comfortable and relaxing visit.

If all of this is still not enough to make you feel calm and relaxed while you are here, Dr. Tau, also a sedation dentist, can prescribe oral medication that will reduce your anxiety, or you can request that Dr. Tau use nitrous oxide (laughing gas) during your visit. After the visit Dr. Tau will offer you hot, moist towels to clean up.

Cervical Artificial Disc Replacement Surgical Procedure

January 4th, 2009 by admin

OR-Live.com webcast January 24, 2008 at 6:00 PM CST From Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, Baton Rouge, LA

Cervical disc replacement surgery would most typically be done for patients with cervical disc herniations that have not responded to non-surgical treatment options and are significantly affecting the individuals’ quality of life and ability to function.
An artificial disc surgery may be done instead of an anterior cervical discectomy and fusion. The advantages of the artificial cervical disc replacement include:

Maintaining normal neck motion
Eliminating the need for a bone graft
Early postoperative neck motion
Faster return to normal activity
The indications for a cervical disc replacement include symptomatic cervical disc, which may be causing arm pain, arm weakness or numbness with some degree of neck pain.

The standard surgical procedure for a disc replacement is an anterior (from the front) approach to the cervical spine. The affected disc is completely removed including any disc fragments or bone spurs. The disc space is prepared to relieve pressure on the nerves and the artificial disc device is implanted. The patient typically can go home within 24 to 48 hours with minimal activity limitations.

Jorge Isaza, MD will perform cervical disc replacement for this webcast. Dr. Isaza is a graduate of Universidad del Valle Hospital in South America. He completed his fellowship and residency at Tulane University School of Medicine, Department of Orthopaedics.

Fraser Landreneau, MD, will join Dr. Isaza as the moderator during this webcast. Dr. Landreneau will take viewers through the cervical disc replacement by explaining the process and answering questions from the viewing audience.

Dr. Landreneau earned his medical degree from Louisiana State University Medical center in Shreveport. He completed his residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas and completed his fellowship at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, Department of Neurosurgery in Western Australia.

Our Lady of the Lake is the largest private medical center in Louisiana, with more than 700 licensed beds and a 12-parish service area. In a given year Our Lady of the Lake treats approximately 35,000 patients in the hospital and serves over 300,000 persons through outpatient locations with the istance of almost 1,000 physicians and 4,000 team members.

DeAndre Brown – Southern Miss – breaks leg during bowl game (tibia and fibula)

December 28th, 2008 by admin

Five minutes into the game, Brown caught a pass for a nine-yard gain to set the school single-season receptions mark. Then, on the next USM drive with the Golden Eagles at the Troy 30-yard line, Brown broke free on a route near the left sideline. Quarterback Austin Davis lofted a pass, but just as Brown planted his left foot, it seemed to catch in the turf. He tumbled to the ground while trying to extend for the ball. Brown immediately began to clutch at his lower left leg, holding it up in the air as part of the leg dangled at an impossible angle. It was one of the more gruesome injuries you are likely to see, and you had to wonder: Is his story headed for a heartbreaking ending?

A cart immediately was rushed out as teammates and USM medical staff hovered over him before the freshman was driven off with the leg in an air cast. The crowd began chanting “De-An-dre! De-An-dre!” Brown was rushed to Tulane Medical Center, where he was diagnosed with a fractured left tibia.

USM went on to rally without its star to win 30-27 in overtime. Afterward, Tony Hughes, the USM istant who had recruited Brown, remarked how bittersweet the victory was. “They only thing you can do when you see something like that is start praying,” Hughes said. “It’s so sad. He’s such a good kid.”

However, as shocking as it might sound after seeing such a horrific break, Brown might not miss a game in 2009. According to The (Jackson, Miss.) Clarion-Ledger, Brown was to undergo surgery Sunday night as soon as he arrived back in Hattiesburg.

“It’s a clean break,” USM orthopedic physician Lance Line told The Clarion-Ledger’s Tyler Cleveland late Sunday night. “We’re going to operate tonight in Hattiesburg, and he will definitely miss all of spring practice, but if everything goes perfectly the rehab should take about six months.”

Doctor wont do anything! need answers now!?

December 23rd, 2008 by admin

my mom has had pains in her knee for a month now. she went to the doctor and they said that she was losing cartilage in her knee. they gave her stuff to take for the pain. it got worse. she went back to the doctor and they sent her to physical theropy. the theropist said that they can do what might help but that it isnt the loss of cartilage. that there is a piece of cartilage that is either rough aroun the edges or has completly broken off, and that she should have surgery on it. she tell her doctor what the theropist said and the doctor says the theropist is WRONG!.plus my brother is in medical school at Tulane and he talked to his profeccors about it and they said the same thing that the theropists said. the THE DOCTOR WONT DO ANYTHING! and my mom is in EXTREME PAIN! i want her to go to the ER but she wont. HELP ME PLEASE! tell me something i can do!

take her to the emmergency room at your local hospital. if they agree with the physo assesment, then they should take x ray of her problem. if they find that she needs surgery, you may then proceed to sue her doctor, if in doubt he should have ordered x rays.

Zero Disease 6 – Dr. Stephen West, DL, PMD 1-24-08

December 14th, 2008 by admin

Acid/Alkaline environment biggest secrets. New York garbage strike. Lymphology is purificaton and immune system. Instant pain relief in reflexology points – has to instantly send healing energy to every organ and every part of the body. Iridology. Less than 1/2 Medical schools in the United States today than before the AMA and FDA were established. Control vs. Freedom. Darkness vs. Light. Scientific formula for life vs.formula and death. Starlings hypothesis was proven false in 1930 at Harvard and again in 1948 at Tulane and 1960 at Mississippi medical schools, by Dr’s Cecil K Drinker, H S Mayerson, Arthur C Guyton. And published in Scientific American journal in June of 1963, American Medical ociation official journal in December of 1963 and Readers Digest in January of 1964. Then the largest medical research project ever pulled off in history was conducted in 1966, which buried it! Because the by-laws technically and specifically made the ISL (International Society of Lymphology) organization so it wasn’t a pure medical organization – knowing that medical doctors (who’s work hadn’t already been published) would no longer be allowed to publish their work in the scientific avenues, such as Scientific American. So in 1966 they decided it wasn’t their cup of tea and in 1967 Dr West was inspired to go back to school with 6 kids to teach people how to heal themselves and was let to the truth which had been buried, carry the work forward. They dropped the ball in ‘66 and we’ve been running with it ever since. What doctors do know and why they say, “You’re just not supposed to” in reguards to saying that very different diseases such as Cancer, Heart Disease, and Alstimers have the same cause and they do it anyway with inflamation being ociated with every disease. But they say, “You’re just not supposed to.” Very scientific? ha ha
