Should I wear my engagement ring to my medical school interview?
I have an interview this Thursday for med school. Should I wear my engagement ring or should I keep it off?
The reason I was thinking I wouldn't wear it was because I didn't want them to think I wouldn't be committed to school 100%. They may start asking about when we are planning the wedding and wonder if (since it is June 2009) it would interfere with my first year of school.
It was actually my fiance's thought so he wouldn't be hurt by it. He knows he is my world. He just doesn't know if it is a good idea to let them know that… haha.
don't wear it.
i have a friend who swears that this is the reason she didn't get in. granted, that's just secondhand knowledge, but if i were you i wouldn't….just in case.
also, my husband is a medical student and said that they were a lot harder on the people who were engaged or married….they said that it showed a "lack of commitment" to the medical profession. sad but true.
as much as i'm sure you love to wear your bling, i'd skip it for the day.

Why wouldn't you wear it?

You should wear it beacause you shouldn't go into the interview feeling dishonest–it'll throw you off your game. And if you have a tan line, they might wonder about what's going on with you.
If anything, being engaged shows maturity and should be helpful, but they probably don't care one way or the other.

I would wear it. You have a personal life outside of your job. Why wouldn't you wear it?

that kind of a dumb question you should wear it why wouldnt you wear it? But then again i could understand where you are coming from. YOu dont want them to think that you wont be committed to what your going into. Wear it, if your boyfriend knew about it he would probably be hurt

Wear it. It's OK to be who you are.

I'd say that if your fiance is ok with it, then don't wear it. Medical school interviews are very tough – the admissions committee will look for any possible reason to not accept you. They have probably tens of thousands of applicants for their 100-200 spots. Don't give them a reason to turn you down.
Wear your engagement ring AFTER you get the acceptance!
By the way, congrats on making it to the interview stage of the application cycle (and on your engagement!) If you are accepted, good luck in medical school!

There are plenty of students applying to medical school with a significant other.Wearing your engagement ring wouldn't take away from your interview. From my perspective it would display maturity and responsibility.Good Luck on your interview by the way!
