What should I do if I want to go to Medical School?
If I do this major with these classes, then Will I be able to go to medical school?
I am majoring in Biochemical Engineering and I really want to go to medical school. My top choices are Stanford University, Harvard University, Yale University, UCSF, UCLA, USC.
Can I still go if I get my BS in Biochemical Engineering? When I go to Stanford medical school admission, they do not have any requirement. Can I still apply for medical school? By the way, I am doing my BS at the University of Southern California (USC). Thank you for your time.
The main thing is that you are a well rounded applicant. Id suggest you do some research on the med school admission process. Alot of people dont realize exactly what it entails.

Many med schools have different admission stats. Some have GPA cut offs, MCAT cut offs. Id suggest that you work hard in whatever your doing. Do things you enjoy ( extra curricular or EC's) volunteer, shadow, research, and so on just to name a few. Make sure you have all your med school requirements.
Youll find what you need on those 2 sites. ONce there, youll get access to more questions, answers, and youll probably get info so you can do more research on your own.
ALSO talk to your schools premed advisor. They should be a GREAT resource for you. You go to a good school so im sure theyll be helpful in letting you know what you need to do to be a succesful qualified med school applicant

It doesn't matter what you undergrad degree is in. In fact, yours is very unique and they will like that. If Stanford doesn't have any specific class requirements then that means all you need is a degree. However, be aware of what the MCAT tests. You need to take classes to prepare for that. That means you need chemistry (including organic and biochem), biology (including genetics and microbiology), and physics. Other upper level biology courses might be a good idea as well.

To get into medical school around here, you have to have a job in the medical field already (a lot of people do the CNA thing).

Yes – if your GPA MCAT scores are drop dead good. The subjects in Biochemical engineering will certainly meet medical school requirements. That is almost a given. The issue is are your grades good enough. For the schools you mention they would need to be near perfect – certainly over 3.75.

I'm guessing you're a freshman, because otherwise you would have already written off all those medical schools because you'd have already realized you don't have the credentials to get in. Engineering is not the best pre-med major, because it's difficult to maintain a high GPA. But if you can get near a 4.0 in Biochem Engineering from USC, I'd say you'd have a good shot at all those schools.

Ive done extensive research on the med school admission process. MCAT, different med schools, browsed MDapplicants. Im an information technology major right now (freshman) BUT i still have a huge interest in medicine. Its something that I can see combining in the future. Who knows.
KEY thing. KNOW YOUR STUFF. Do alot of reseach. Bookstores have books on med schools, internet great resource. Just dont make the mistake of taking peoples word for it. ASK but also do your homework. Nothing worse than going through 4 years of school and then finding out that you should have could have done something along the way.
