OMCT Demolition

November 9th, 2008 by admin

A slideshow of the demolition of the former Osteopathic Medical Center of Texas — the hospital’s properties were purchased in April 2005 by the University of North Texas Health Science Center, Fort Worth’s medical school and more. The Health Science Center will immediately begin construction of one of several new buildings on the site when the land is cleared.

The new building will provide the fall 2009 incoming Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine class with world-class facilities that will include more space for classes, state-of-the-art patient simulation labs, and a larger technical osteopathic manipulative medicine training facility. That class will include about 205 students, a 1,000-percent increase in class size over TCOM’s first incoming class of 20 in 1970.

The OMCT provided TCOM with classroom space for the medical school’s first year, and a professional relationship between the school and the hospital continued until the hospital’s closure in October 2004.
