UCLA pre med , med school, and nurosurgeon?
So i have decided 100% that i have decided to become a nurosurgeon (im only in 9th grade) im planning on going to UCLA but i need Some more information i now that ucla offers pre med and medical school how many years is that 6 or 8?
and how good is the school there? and i still dont understand the concept of residency and were can that take place?can it be taken place at the ucla campus?
i have no idea why the first person to answer this question said that u need to do 4 yrs undergrad and 4 yrs pre-med. actually, undergrad is pre-med.
well first u need to get ur undergrad (u can call it pre-med but its actually the life sciences program) which would take abt 4 yrs. then u need to spend 4 more yrs. at med-school for MD. then u need to spend another 2-4 years to obtain a PHD in neurology (since u mentioned that u wanna be a neurosurgeon).
after that, u probably have to spend about 2 yrs. for residency. and then finally, u'll be done with it. lol so it will take u abt 12-14 yrs to become a nerosurgeon.
im actually planning to be a cardiologist.
